Bread Machine Bagels

  1. Add the warm water, brown sugar, salt, bread flour, and yeast to the bread machine pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer.

  2. Select the dough setting and start the machine. Let the bread machine knead and rise the dough.

  3. Once the dough is ready, remove it from the bread machine pan and divide it into 12 equal pieces.

  4. Roll each piece of dough into a ball, and then use your finger to make a hole in the center of each ball. Stretch and shape the hole to about 1-2 inches in diameter.

  5. Place the bagels on a parchment-lined baking sheet, and then cover them with a damp cloth. Let the bagels rest for 20-30 minutes or until they rise and puff up.

  9. Remove the bagels from the water with a slotted spoon, and then place them back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.

  10. Brush each bagel with beaten egg white, and then sprinkle the toppings of your choice on top of each bagel.
